Tourist arrivals up 12% in Jan-May



                                                 


Malacañang on Friday said the number of foreign visitor arrivals in the Philippines from January to May Philippines Tourism Developmentncreased by 12% from the same period last year.

Deputy Presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said 170,000 more foreigners visited the country from January to May this year for a total of 1.6 million.
The Philippines is targeting to attract 3.74 million foreign visitors this year.
Meantime, Valte said 20 bicycle units have been turned over for the use of the tourist police.
President Aquino met with Tourism Secretary Alberto Lim today to discuss the Philippine Tourism Development Plan 2011-2016.
