Apo Island

Sport Diver magazine has named Apo Island one of the 100 best dive sites in the world, and the administrators of this well-run marine sanctuary have taken great care to make sure that the waters around the island retain that status. Locals have also supported initiatives of scientists from the esteemed marine biology department of Dumaguete’s Sillliman University, making this one of the most well-documented and best-protected sanctuaries in the Philippines. Though hit hard by a tropical storm a few years ago, Apo Island remains a top dive site even as it recovers
