About Birla Industrial and Technological Museum                    

Located on the crossing of the Gurusaday Road, the first Science and Technology Museum, Birla Industrial Museum Kolkata was established in the year 1959. It was started with the aim to foster the masses, the popularity of Science and technology by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.

This project availed support from Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, who was the then Chief Minister of Bengal and the museum was set up. This museum bears the name of the Birlas as the grounds on which this museum stands that belongs to family of the Birlas. Special events like science exhibitions, seminars and symposiums are regularly organised in this museum. To attend any of these, the Museum Helpdesk’s will always assist.
